  13. I recently acquired a non-functional C64G (the one with grey breadbox-like
  14. case and narrow motherboard). I traced a faulty 6526A, which I replaced,
  15. until I noticed that the RAM chips (D41464-12) got REALLY hot.
  16. So now I need new chips, but those are hard to find here. I'd get plenty
  17. of 41256s, would they fit aswell? Or any other chips (my friend has
  18. many old PC-boards)?
  19.  
  20. And, finally, if the new RAM chips don't help, where could the fault
  21. be then? (On that big chip in the middle of the board? AAARRGH!)
  22. When I turn on the machine, the screen stays black and the datassette
  23. motor keeps running.
